What is the importance of massage therapy?

Massage therapy is something most people see as a luxury.

I see it as a form of self care.

A lot of people don't consider self care as a necessity, but with our busy body society we need to make self care a priority in our everyday lives. Regular massage is not only a way to practice self care but to also treat minor illnesses and injuries.

BENEFITS OF MASSAGE

  • Regular massage can reduce stress / ease depression and anxiety.

  • Massage promotes circulation and healthy blood flow

  • Touch through massage actually releases the body's natural endorphins and serotonin which can boost your overall mood

  • Massage helps your mind stay more alert and focused during daily tasks and activities

Massage therapy is extremely beneficial for everyone! It's amazing for infants, children, stressed out adults, athletes, soon-to-be mothers and everyone in between.

All of my massage sessions are catered to each individuals needs, whether that be deep tissue, stress relief, or just straight up pampering! Most of my sessions include aromatherapy and different tools to stimulate the parasympathetic system which causes relaxation.

What is Energy work and how is it important?

Energy work is a type of modality that many holistic healers use in their practice. This focuses on your energetic body, mind and emotions.

So what the heck is your energetic body?

Well, it's not so much your physical existence but the energy flowing through and around your body.. every living thing emits vibrations into the space surrounding its physical self. These vibrations affect the things around it and even the physical health of its being.

Here's an image of the how the human energetic field flows ⤈

Often times the human energy field is broken into sections known as different "bodies". The physical body, etheric body, emotional body, mental body and spiritual body. Many people also divide the human energy field into different chakras. The most recognized chakras are the first 7 but there are many more all throughout the body! The image below can help you better understand where these are located.

When an energy practitioner does a healing session these are the bodies they are working with intuitively. Many practitioners receive messages as to what areas to work on by sensations such as feeling mirrored pain or emotions in their own body. This is the main way I intuitively work on people during my energy healing sessions & use Reiki during most sessions. Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique which has been around for many years and is practiced by holistic healers all over the world. (I will share more information on Reiki in a later post) I personally like to use crystals, herbs, floral essences and essential oils in my sessions as well.

BENEFITS OF ENERGY WORK

  • Energy work is great for easing depression and anxiety along with supporting other mental illnesses.

  • This type of body work is non-invasive and is an amazing technique for those who have endured different types of abuse or those who struggle with PTSD

  • It is great for keeping your energy levels up and for helping you maintain a positive mindset ♡

(All of the info here on Energy Work and Massage Therapy has come from years of study, practice and my own experiences. I have been certified in Reiki since 2015. I am a licensed Massage Therapist and have been practicing massage therapy since 2016. Everything I share is to be treated as a holistic add on to your primary health care routine and should always be discussed with your doctor if you have any health concerns)
